REPORTS

Fishabout Tours operator Chris Stokes tells me that the fishing over the next two weeks will be excellent after the heavy rains. Chris also says that squid are pretty hard to come by so this will make it a bit tough for the target fish this weekend “Jewfish”

Reports from the Hawkesbury are that school jewies are around the eastern side of the road bridge on the run out tide but only for about an hour or so then nothing. Juno Point is full of eels and catfish but Flint and SteelĀ is producing bream and flathead.

The kingies have been off the bite in Pittwater since the rains but a reliable source tells me that Longnose Point and Stokes Point should fire up this weekend. Some nice whiting off the sand flats near the dog park at Baywiew and stud bream off Bayview Wharf at dusk using pink nippers.

Long Reef has leatherjackets in plague proportions with lots of gear being lost on every outing. Newport Reef has the odd snapper up to 3kg but they are few and far between.

Narrabeen and Newport beach have jewies after dark on fresh squid and Narrabeen lakes has plenty of school jewies but nearly all caught have been undersize. Curly from Narrabeen Bait and Tackle told of a 15kg jewie caught in the lake last weekend !!!!!

The eastern side of Lion Island has heaps of chopper tailor which may indicate the kingies will not be far away over the weekend.

Well good luck to everyone for the elusive target fish and see you on Sunday.
