Yes, due to a delay waiting for legal advice concerning the Andrew Wiseman, Intensive Care story, the website floundered briefly, but after the lawyers informed me that he may now have a coherent case to mount against me, we settled out of court, a fillet of kingfish for a fillet of the mother to all future generations of flathead plus some organically grown spinach and a mix of herbaceous herbs from my garden. I am now free to report to you all the relevant matters that concern this wonderful club of ours.
There is a band being formed for the presentation night from current members. Justin Appleby, 28 Sinclair & The Fish Whisperer have been penciled in. We are looking for any one who is musically gifted or anyone who can bang a pot and has been given a gift in the last ten years to join the band. Please contact band founder 28 Sinclair for an audition. Any song writers with catchy lyrics are also encouraged to forward their lyrics to 28 Sinclair.
May 2009
We love fishing, the monthly competitions being a pretext to bring us together socially. For some of us, 28 days can seem like a long time, waiting for the opportunity to meet again & recall great fishing stories, the ones that got away and all that.
On a completely unrelated matter, some members of the fishing club have been discussing whether we need to take a proactive position on our behavioural code of conduct. With other sporting codes being continually brought into disrepute by a small minority of their members, some members feel that an internal suspension system may need to be put in place in an effort to nip this kind of behaviour in the bud before it blossoms into rugby league type proportions.
At the April weigh-in a bag with 2 good sized flathead was found by a staff member after the fishing club members had finally finished up. The flathead were in good condition & the lucky club staff member enjoyed eating them with a squeeze of lemon & a pinch of salt. This prompts me to remind all of the members that if you have a large catch, other members are not too proud to accept excess fish. It bought a large smile to the face of Andrew Wiseman after last weigh-in when I delivered him a large fillet of kingfish after he scored a duck that weekend.
The weigh-in last month saw the start of the score blackout. Having a look through the current scores there are plenty of places up for grabs so hopefully everyone has some good fishing over the next month. Don’t forget that rock blackfish (drummer), mulloway & tuna are still available to be taken as cup fish, with tailor this month & leatherjacket to finish out the season with.
February 2009
At the February weigh-in it was brought to my attention that I wasn’t putting enough of the slipper into my fellow club members as they alleged I had done in the past. I refute these allegations & have always considered my reports to be fair and they will remain so. I will not lower the esteem of these reports & pander to some half-baked, punch-drunk clowns.
A Stroke of Luck?
‘If you want to make it into the top three this year there is still plenty of time to have a stroke.’ This was the advice from a determined Andrew Wiseman who has begun the biggest comeback since Little Johnny without the triple bypass. Like Lazarus being raised from his grave by the hand of Jesus Christ, Andrew in his newly rechristened boat, Intensive Care, took the open & deep sea points for the month with a remarkable catch of kingfish & bream. Justin Appleby maintained his overall lead with another great box of fish including a prized john dory getting second in the open & deep sea divisions. Newly defected from Narrabeen RSL, Troy Preston invited the Fish Whisperer out on his boat Hammerhead. He proceeded to suck the Whisperers brains, & landed himself the biggest snapper of his life & took third in the open & deep sea.
Bruce Porter has also bounced back & took the points in the estuary flathead & bream. Thomas Kerr took second with a flounder & a nice little red. Dave Kerr was happy to take third with whiting & bream.
Dave Lee looks dangerous on the land taking the top honours shared with Andrew Wiseman. Tim Jackett grabbed third.
Margaret Whiteman was the only lady to score & took all the points in the ladies.
The same went for Thomas Kerr in the juniors division & looks like being an exciting battle leading into the cooler months & the trophies.
